History OF Adobe FLASH

Adobe Flash (formerly Macromedia Flash) is a multimedia platform used to add animation, video, and interactivity to web pages. Flash is frequently used for advertisements, games and flash animations for broadcast. More recently, it has been positioned as a tool for "Rich Internet Applications" ("RIAs")
Flash manipulates vector and raster graphics to provide animation of text, drawings, and still images. It supports bidirectional streaming of audio and video, and it can capture user input via mouse, keyboard, microphone, and camera. Flash contains an object-oriented language called ActionScript and supports automation via the JavaScript Flash language (JSFL).
Flash content may be displayed on various computer systems and devices, using Adobe Flash Player, which is available free of charge for common web browsers, some mobile phones, and a few other electronic devices (using Flash Lite).
Some users feel that Flash enriches their web experience, while others find the extensive use of Flash animation, particularly in advertising, intrusive and annoying. Flash has also been criticized for adversely affecting the usability of web pages

Released with Flash Player 6, new features included: a video codec (Sorenson Spark),Unicode, v1 UI Components, compression, ActionScript vector drawing API

Macromedia Flash MX 2004(7)
2003

Released with Flash Player 7, new features included: Actionscript 2.0 (which enabled anobject-oriented programming model for Flash, although it lacked the Script assist function of other versions, meaning Actionscript could only be typed out manually), behaviors, extensibility layer (JSAPI), alias text support, timeline effects. Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004 included all Flash MX 2004 features, plus: Screens (forms for non-linear state-based development and slides for organizing content in a linear slide format like PowerPoint), web services integration, video import wizard, Media Playback components (which encapsulate a complete MP3 and/or FLV player in a component that may be placed in an SWF), Data components (DataSet, XMLConnector, WebServicesConnector, XUpdateResolver, etc.) and data binding APIs, the Project Panel, v2 UI components, and Transition class libraries.

Macromedia Flash 8
2005

Macromedia Flash Basic 8, a less feature-rich version of the Flash authoring tool targeted at new users who only want to do basic drawing, animation and interactivity. Released with Flash Player 8, this version of the product has limited support for video and advanced graphical and animation effects. Macromedia Flash Professional 8 added features focused on expressiveness, quality, video, and mobile authoring. New features included Filters and blend modes, easing control for animation, enhanced stroke properties (caps and joins), object-based drawing mode, run-time bitmap caching, FlashType advanced anti-aliasing for text, On2 VP6 advanced video codec, support for alpha transparency in video, a stand-alone encoder and advanced video importer, cue point support in FLV files, an advanced video playback component, and an interactive mobile device emulator.

Adobe Flash CS3(9) Professional
2007

Flash CS3 is the first version of Flash released under the Adobe name. CS3 features full support for ActionScript 3.0, allows entire applications to be converted into ActionScript, adds better integration with other Adobe products such as Adobe Photoshop, and also provides better Vector drawing behavior, becoming more like Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Fireworks.

Adobe Flash CS4(10) Professional
2008

Contains inverse kinematics (bones), basic 3D object manipulation, object-based animation, a text engine, and further expansions to ActionScript 3.0. CS4 allows the developer to create animations with many features absent in previous versions.

Adobe Flash Professional CS5(11)
2010

Flash CS5 was released on April 12, 2010 and launched for trialling and normal buying on April 30, 2010. Flash CS5 Professional includes support for publishing iPhoneapplications. However, on April 8, 2010 Apple changed the terms of its Developer License to effectively ban the use of the Flash-to-iPhone compiler and on April 20, 2010 Adobe announced that they will be making no additional investments in targeting the iPhone and iPad in Flash CS5
Other features of Flash CS5 are a new text engine (TLF), further improvement to inverse kinematics, and the Code Snippets panel.

Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5(11.5)
2011

Flash Professional CS5.5 was released in 2011. It includes improved support for publishing iPhone applications, following Apple's revision of their iOS developer terms. Flash CS5.5 also contains several features to improve mobile app workflows across devices. Some examples are: Content scaling and stage resizing, copy and paste layers, sharing symbols across FLA files, symbol rasterization, incremental compilation, auto-save and file recovery, and integration with CS Live
online services.

2012

What's New in Adobe Flash CS5?

The Flash CS5 Text Engine:

Specifically, the Text Layout Framework. This takes design into a different arena by providing a visual text positioning and editing capability very similar to many graphic design programs and providing more features, more ways to manipulate your text, and greater control.

Code Snippets:

A new panel comes with predefined code that makes it easier to get past the knotty adjustments from ActionScripting 2.0 to 3.0. The Code Snippets panel lets you insert pre-written code with a few clicks.
Upgrades to the ActionScript Editor: The new version of the editor features code hints and code completion.

New Drawing Tools for Deco:
If you use Deco, this adds new effects and tools that will simplify and enhance your experience.
Spring": A new animation feature for inverse kinematics, intended to allow more realistic features.

XML for FLA Files:
Flash source files are now based on XML - which can mean many things for file editing, distribution, and linking.

Tie-Ins to Other Creative Suite Products:
Flash now integrates more thoroughly with functionality for products such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver, playing up the "suite" aspect of the product pack. If it turns out the various products can actually work together as extensions of a whole, it'll bring a new layer of interactivity and productivity for animators and designers.

Keep your code in one place and your animation in another, but bring them all together in Flash.

Broadcom Corporation and Adobe Systems Incorporated announced the integration of the Adobe Flash Platform into Broadcom’s latest digital television (DTV) and set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) platforms. 

The collaboration paves the way for rich Flash based entertainment experiences on televisions that offer viewers new options for accessing Web content on their TVs. 

With Adobe Flash Lite 3 software supported in the Broadcom BCM3549, BCM3556, BCM7400 and BCM7405 SoC solutions, TV viewers will be able to view Flash based content and applications from popular online providers and entertainment sites. 

Broadcom DTV and STB platforms with integrated Adobe Flash support are expected to be available to manufacturers in the first half of 2009. 

Broadcom will demonstrate Adobe Flash support on its BCM7405 and BCM3549 solutions at this week’s 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show.

Creating your first AIR application using Flash CS3

For a quick, hands-on demonstration of how Adobe® AIR™ works, follow the instructions in this topic to create and package a simple "Hello World" AIR application using Adobe® Flash® CS3 Professional.

Create the Hello World application in Flash
Creating an Adobe AIR application in Flash is much like creating any other Flash application. The differences are that you begin by creating a Flash File (Adobe AIR) from the Welcome screen and conclude by creating application and installer settings and installing your AIR application. The following procedure guides you through the process of creating a simple Hello World application using Flash CS3.
To create the Hello World application
Start Flash.
In the Welcome Screen, click Flash File (Adobe AIR) to create an empty FLA file with Adobe AIR publish settings.
Click OK to respond to the summary dialog, Authoring for Adobe AIR with Flash CS3. This dialog takes a few seconds to come up the first time.
Select the Text tool in the Tools panel and create a static text field (the default) in the center of the Stage. Make it wide enough to contain 15 -20 characters.



Enter the text "Hello World" in the text field.
Save the file, giving it a name (for example, helloAIR).
Test the application
To test the Hello World application
Press Ctrl + Enter or select Control ->Test Movie to test the application in Adobe AIR.
To use the Debug Movie feature, first add ActionScript code to the application. You can try it quickly by adding a trace statement like the following:trace("Running AIR application using Debug Movie");
Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter, or select Control->Debug Movie to run the application with Debug Movie.
Select the Commands > AIR - Applications and Installer Settings menu item to open the AIR - Application & Installer Settings dialog.

Sign the Adobe AIR package with a self-signed digital certificate:
Click the Set… button for the Digital Signature prompt to open the Digital Signature dialog box.
Click the Create... button to open the Create Self-Signed Digital Certificate dialog box
Complete the entries for Publisher name, Organizational unit, Organizational name, E-mail, Country, Password, and Confirm Password.
Specify the type of certificate. The certificate Type option refers to the level of security: 1024-RSA uses a 1024-bit key (less secure), and 2048-RSA uses a 2048-bit key (more secure).
Save the information in a certificate file by completing the Save as entry or clicking the Browse... button to browse to a folder location. (For example, C:/Temp/mycert.pfx). When you're finished click OK.
Flash returns you to the Digital Signature Dialog. The path and filename of the self-signed certificate that you created appears in the Certificate text box. If not, enter the path and file name or click the Browse button to locate and select it.
Enter the same password in the Password text field of the Digital Signature dialog box as the password that you assigned in step c and click OK. For more information about signing your Adobe AIR applications, see Signing your application.
To create the application and installer file, click the Publish AIR file button. You must execute Test Movie or Debug Movie to create the SWF and application.xml files before creating the AIR file.
To install the application, double click the AIR file (application.air) in the same folder where you saved your application.
Click the Install button in the Application Install dialog.
Review the Installation Preferences and Location settings and make sure that the 'Start application after installation' checkbox is checked. Then click Continue.
Click Finish when the Installation Completed message appears.
